ABOUT ME
My name is Caszmera (aka Cassie/Cash/Caz) and I’ve recently opened Porto’s only donut shop — classic American (U.S.) donuts with a twist. One of my earliest memories was baking Polish sweet bread with my grandpa back home in Florida. Every day he would visit the local Dunkin’ Donuts to catch up with friends over coffee and a donut. At 15, I landed my first job at that very same shop. Thanks to my hobby for baking, after two days of cleaning toilets I was promoted to decorating ice cream cakes. This marked the beginning of my 19 year career in restaurants & hospitality.
I’ve made over 5,000 donuts in the last year, tweaking my dough to achieve the perfect soft and chewy texture. When it comes to flavors, I have no shortage of inspiration. I love picking up unique ingredients when I travel and finding a way to work them into a glaze. I also often convert my favorite drinks, breakfast cereals, and other treats into glazes. From 2023-2024, I hosted a weekly popup event at Hakko (my first bakery in Porto, opened in 2022). Some of the most popular from over 200 unique flavors are Peanut Butter Miso, Coffee Cardamom, and Banoffee. I opened ONE STAR DONUTS in Carolina Michaelis in October of 2025.
WHY “ONE STAR
DONUTS”? 🤔
After years of working in the food industry, I’ve seen small businesses devastated by bad reviews like “Business was closed ⭐☆☆☆☆” or “Amazing food, service wasn’t joyful enough ⭐☆☆☆☆”. ONE STAR is a response to how much weight online reviews carry — often unfairly. It’s a salute to the people working hard behind the scenes and to Porto’s local community, which continues to show up and support.
No stars, no scores — just amazing donuts.
Donuts are my way of connecting to people around me. My Porto community inspires me and is deeply involved in shaping what I do. I take suggestions for flavors and love to surprise people with new ideas. My aim is to continue to create a collaborative environment with locals. In the future, that will mean more than just donuts. Think events, pop-ups, loyalty rewards, collaborations, workshops and lots more fun!

Opening ONE STAR has always been my dream, and you all made it possible. In May 2025, I signed for the perfect shop in Carolina Michaelis! 263 square meters with a huge back patio, great for summer lounging ;)
Thanks to the incredible support of my community, the crowdfunding campaign helped cover the deposit and key opening costs. In June 2025, I received a small bank loan to fund some equipment and construction costs.
There is still SO much to invest in and as I do everything alone (and without investors) I appreciate your patience as I finalize.
